Andrews Tool Company Acquires Enhanced Automated Drilling Unit Assets from Fives Group and Hires a New Lead Mechanical Engineer

Arlington, Tx. — Andrews Tool Company, based in Arlington, TX, has acquired all the assets of Fives Group’s Enhanced Automated Drilling Units and will immediately begin US based production, sales and support for the technology.

 

Andrews Tool Co President & Owner Sol Kanthack said, “We are very excited to add pneumatic and electric positive feed adaptive drilling technologies, developed by Fives, to our existing pneumatic power feed portfolio, which will be manufactured and supported in the US.  This new portfolio of intellectual property and the partnership with Fives will also enable Andrews Tool Company (ATC) to advance our goals in robotic automated drilling.”

 

Associated with completing the Fives Group asset acquisition, Doyle Phillips will join the Andrews Tool Co team, effective November 16, 2020, as its Lead Mechanical Engineer and drilling application specialist.  Doyle’s career spans over eighteen-years with Raytheon as a Principal Manufacturing Engineer and includes expertise with robotic applications.  He has spent the past three plus years with Atlas Copco as a Drilling Applications Engineer, stating “With Atlas Copco exiting this market, I am excited to join an entrepreneurially minded organization that seeks to compete with a U.S. based offering that represents the ideal model for supporting customers’ needs and technology applications.”
